Ugly Electrical References 2011 Edition [Spiralbound] Sammie Hart Author George V Hart Author Books
For the price, this little "mini-reference" is jam-packed with information. It has great diagrams of transformer wiring (Wye, Delta, etc.), and NEMA connector pinouts. There are useful tables for conductors, ampacities, correction factors, unit conversions, and many more. It has sample calculations like "load calculation." It includes some formulas and equations that an electrical industry worker may never need, but it's nice to have it all in a handy, portable place that's much sturdier than your iPad. It has a durable cover and comes in a handy, small size you can even put in a pocket. De rigeur for working journeymen or apprentice electricians and students.Product details

Ugly Electrical References 2011 Edition [Spiralbound] Sammie Hart Author George V Hart Author Books Reviews
I use this book only as a reference point for my electrical studies. Only for that, if you buy this book to learn electrical then it would be hard for you to understand some of the information in it, then I recommend taking some electrical classes.
Small, easy to use reference for the most important aspects of an electricians needs. Well organized into different sections containing the most important info needed in each of them; such as wire ampacity, conduit size and fill, motor control wiring etc.

You can't beat Ugly's for reference.
If you do any work encompassing getting electricity from one place to another, your life is incomplete without Ugly's Electrical Reference. From using formulas to bending conduit, sizing wire, sizing conduit, selecting and sizing transformers, working with three-phase and a ton more reference material.
So then you took the kids to T-ball and POOF now they are teenagers and some of the calcs aren't as clear as they used to be and the NEC has changed. Not to worry! UGLY's "paper brain" will instantly get you back up to speed. Even if you think you are on track, use UGLY's for a "sanity check" and verification. The book is softcover with tough covers, small enough to fit in your field kit, water and oil resistant, non-conductive with an easy-to-read typeface.
Fantastic reference guide. I bought this for work as a reference (I work on overhead industrial cranes), and it helped with lining out new jobs and choosing the correct materials to working up quotes. Every electrician, whether industrial, commercial, or residential, should have this book. Will be buying the more updated version soon at NEC changed a lot of code and recommended practices over the past few years.
I work in the failure analysis arena, sometimes you just can't keep certain things in your head. This little book has saved me meany times. I also use the "other" reference book but this one is more specific to electrical, it even has a few pages on first aid. A good section to review since once in awhile since I'm also a Frist Responder. There's a lot of good information packed in this little book.
